Elegant Boho Cheyenne Mountain Resort Wedding in Colorado Springs, CO
You know those people you just click with instantly? This is how it went with Sheridan and Michael. When I met Sheridan for coffee after I received her inquiry, I anticipated a 30-45 minute meeting to connect about their wedding plans and get to know each other. Two hours later, we left the coffee shop after sharing long stories, giggles, and wedding excitement. Once we finalized the booking they kept in close touch, gushing about their wedding plans, asking for my input, and truly welcoming me into their wedding team. And their wedding was no different. It was intentional and truly joyous. Capturing raw emotions on days like theirs is why I love being a wedding photographer.
WEDDING STORY
Sheridan & Michael got married on a perfect August day at Cheyenne Mountain Resort. Their wedding day was curated to be uniquely them, down to every last detail. The ceremony was complete with beer boys (a crowd-approved flower girl alternative), laughs and tears, and a magical breeze whirling flecks of pampas grass into the air from their wedding arch. Their personal hype team - aka wedding party - utilized the incredible suites within the resort to get ready, equipped with plenty of space for their hair and makeup teams and balconies (yes, plural!) with gorgeous mountain views.
Later, while Sheridan and Michael enjoyed a moment alone to scarf down some pizza, their guests mingled on the Grand Rivers Terrace, drinking artisanal cocktails and served appetizers. The newlyweds enjoyed their first dance on the terrace before the party moved inside to the Grand Rivers Ballroom for dinner, speeches, and dancing the night away.
PHOTO LOCATIONS
The resort is expansive, and the staff diligently supported transport to the various wedding and portrait locations with golf carts and shuttles. Sheridan & Michael did their first look near their getting ready suites under the shade of a terrace pergola. Our first stop for portraits was the signature spot on the golf course with the iconic view this venue is known for. Then we headed to the Lakeside Beach which offers an aesthetic trifecta: sandy beaches, blue lake waters, and a mountain backdrop where we did family and wedding party portraits. Later on during the reception, we snuck away for blue hour photos on some of the many terraces. Everything at Cheyenne Mountain Resort is absolutely beautiful, leaving no shortage of stunning backdrops for portraits.
